The beginning of the end

Day 163

With the most restful stop we've had in a good while at Dan and Tammy's we were sent off with hugs and pictures. A great day off for many reasons. Clearing the head is essential and lately the grind of continuing on, exhausted, has taken its toll.

As we headed out we became more and more thankful for our upgraded new/used equipment we got at the REI mothership in downtown Seattle. The snow began as a sprinkle, then it became steady, then everything became white. It's not like the sierras, it's actually cold and there's fresh, wet snow- not pack.

The didn't effect our pace much and we were able to find a campsite by an unmarked water source about twenty miles north.

It is cold, but there is much beauty to come... If the skies become clear.
