I'm tenting at Carl A. Newhall Lean-to tonight. I hiked Columbus and Chairback mountains today. There was a little threat of rain but it didn't really follow through until the afternoon. A few drops did fall while we were off the AT at Screw Auger waterfall. It is on the Gulf Hagas trail, which is a loop trail we planned to hike, but we ran out of time, so we only went to that one waterfall. There have been a lot of waterfalls in Maine so I guess I'm okay missing it, but I will come back another day and hike the Gulf Hagas loop trail.

We saw Santa's Helper crossing the river. We met him in Monson and he left ahead of us, but we're going ahead of him after today. He plans on taking longer than us to get through the Hundred Mile Wilderness. It's so beautiful here! I love this section of the trail.
