grants x2

Well, I woke up this morning and my whole body said “meeehhhhhhh we sleep now”. A 32 mile day followed by a 28 mile day mostly on pavement apparently took more out of me than I had planned for. But hey, that’s the beauty of having no real “plans”.

I ordered up another night of rest on my phone, and dished it out all day. Minus about four miles of walking, I did pretty much nothing today other than relax and rest. My foot was a wee bit swollen (just from walking, no type of injury) so I soaked it (and myself), twice!

The only real errand, and walking, I did was to the post office; just under two miles away.  I had a few things I forgot to give Lauren to take home, and wanted to get that weight off my back. Nothing crazy, but half a pound is definitely nice to drop!

Denny’s for breakfast, Taco Bell for lunch, and some pizza for dinner. Laundry, and laying horizontal. That was my day, and I’m not complaining.

The rest will be especially helpful as tomorrow I’ll go above 10k (and 11k!) for the first time on trail by doing the Mt. Taylor alternate. Some are known to camp on the summit (21 miles from me), but depending on my timing and how strenuous the incline is, I may just push up and over to get a few more miles in. It’s about 100 miles to Cuba from here, and planning on doing it in four days. Other than Mt. Taylor and leaving Grants, shouldn’t be too much incline over that time, so should be doable!
