I passed my 2000 mile mark in the rain and fog on the first steep hill of the day and then I slipped and fell on a wet rock coming down the hill and hurt my knee more. I could hardly walk so Eagle Eye let me use her knee brace that is a band under the kneecap and it really helped. Today was wet and cold with rain and fog. There was not a single other person on the trail. I felt disappointed not to do anything special for my 2000 mile day, but I was just plugging along trying to get to the shelter tonight. There were no views due to the fog so there was no need to stop. I hiked over Apple Orchard mountain, which is another 4000 foot mountain. It was cold up there in the wind and mysterious in the fog.

We had planned to hike a longer day into the very nice Bryant Ridge Shelter, but it took me so much longer with my sore knee that we stopped when we got to the Cornelius Creek Shelter in the dark around 7pm. At least there is water here.
