I enjoyed the pretty trails today, but the slippery rocks make for slower going. We got a late start due to worry about the weather and maybe a storm blowing in. There was strong wind all last night that blew my tent and I didn't sleep well. I got up once to redo one of the tent stakes. It was windy and foggy this morning, but it was fine to hike in once we got going.

Stonewall showed up at the Big Meadows Wayside while we were eating there. I looked out the window and there he was. I wondered if we would see him again. We met a family from NY and NJ who is still without power after Hurricane Sandy. They finally packed up and came to the mountains for a break from the stress and destruction around them. I'm glad they found some relief or solace in the mountains.

Tonight I set up my tent in Bearfence Mountain Hut. Eagle Eye set up her tent, too, and Stonewall hung his hammock inside. We built a fire and then the rain really came after misting all day, and it put out the fire. Yes, there are mice all over this shelter, too.
