I am upstairs in the loft in the Ed Garvey Shelter. It has its own ladder in the back of the building, its own deck and even a squeaky swinging door. Eagle Eye and I night hiked to get here and it was a long day! I climbed the Washington Monument and caught the end of a birdwatching group. I do wish I knew more about birds.

So there I was, puffing up a long hill, talking to myself, struggling to breath, when I hear a noise. It's a car driving down the hill only 20 feet away from me. I had no idea a road was there. It's so strange out here. Roads can be anywhere around here, you just don't know.
