Keeping you warm... and your bag clean

Don't want to stick to your favorite sleeping bag after a long day's trek?

Need a warmer bag, but don't want to part with your current rig?

Want to keep your down-bag clean without having to take it to a dry cleaner?

If you answered yes to any, or all these questions then a Coolmax cocoon liner is for you! In the backcountry it's only a matter of time before your bag gets a funk. When you finally hit a trail town are you really going to fork over 20 beans to get it dry-cleaned? Would you want to miss out on twenty double-cheeseburgers at McDonalds, or a round of celebratory beers for you and your buddies... No? Thought so, hence using a Coolmax cocoon liner...

A liner does more than retain eight additional degrees of heat in your bag. It acts as an ultra comfy barrier between filthy skin and an expensive sleeping bag. The liner is a supple blend of four types of polyester and weighs in around 10-oz. You can throw it in any normal washing machine with your clothes. When it comes out it will be good as new! It's about $40 and will greatly prolong the life of your sleeping bag- making it essential for any hardcore backpacker. The Wild Within uses Kelty Fleece liners, but I find them to be a little bulky for lengthy backcountry experiences.

I used a Coolmax liner on my trek of the Appalachian Trail in 2009 and couldn't be happier. After thousands of miles and months of the harshest conditions it still finds a place in my pack and will be there when The Dusty Camel tackles the Pacific Crest Trail
