Surprise, surprise!

Yesterday’s horizontal rain and low 30s temperatures made for a narsty walk home from work. But, if you’re on a budget and want to avoid the NYC subway than walking is the way to go.

Finally reaching my apartment, I shook off the cold and shot up the elevator. When I reached my floor a massive brown box greeted me. It was about hip high and required a hefty double-arm grab to move inside.

After de-layering, I focused my attention to the box’s label:

To: The Dusty Camel

  From: Patagonia

What could it be? I called Ian, who was out of town. He had no clue about the package. Surprised and excited I dove in. My jaw dropped. Inside was a mound of killer gear! Dumping out the contents a smorgasbord of prime Patagonia merchandise lay before me…

Hardshells, insulating layers, jeans, sweaters, running gear, water bottles, tees, shorts, vests and stickers. There was enough product to fill two closets!

At the bottom of the gear was a letter…

A donation to The Dusty Camel for its expedition this spring and for everyday adventures before and after.

What an amazing gift from a remarkable company. It is one thing to have genuine, quality products. But, it’s a whole different story when the company gives back to the enthusiasts that support it.

The Dusty Camel wants to thank Patagonia and their continued support of environmental non-profits.

Patagonia founder, Yvon Chouinard, once said:

“It’s not an adventure till something goes wrong.”

With this gear, if something goes wrong, we'll be more than ready.
