Ian Mangiardi
Producer : Explorer
Put simply, Ian specializes in safely getting teams from point a to point b through unforgiving conditions; both political and environmental. Recognized by The Explorers Club with the “New Explorers Award” for his paleontological mapping expedition in Mongolia, he has successfully brought teams across mountains, and deserts, as well as the streets of Hollywood, and New York City.
Despite his upbringing in the concrete jungle of NYC, he has extensive outdoor training, became a Wilderness EMT, and holds many other emergency management certifications. As a guide for an NYC based adventure hike company, he learned the inner workings of how to lead a successful team. Through many expeditions and adventures, he has honed his ability to manage logistics and create everything from Himalayan adventures to photo shoots. He achieved his Triple Crown of hiking, having completed the Appalachian, Pacific Crest, and Continental Divide Trails; nearly 8,000 miles spanning over a total of 22 states. When he finished, there were less people to have accomplished this feat than number of people that have been in space.
Serving as Executive Director for The Dusty Camel, he is well versed in planning and consulting for all types of expeditions. Ian lived in Bhutan for nearly two years working on an expedition called The King's Challenge. Conceptualized by the King of Bhutan, and carried out by his brother, HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck.
He served as Director of Logistics of the Roy Chapman Andrews Centennial Expedition. This was a three week journey through the Gobi Desert of Mongolia, equipped with multi-spectral and VR image capturing tools where 250 new paleontological locations and three potential new species were discovered. The entire team was awarded the Citation of Merit by The Explorers Club.
When not off on adventures and expeditions, he produced photo shoots for Hollywood based Photobomb Production for nearly a decade; a full service production company with top clients being Coca-Cola, Victoria's Secret, Anthropologie, Martini, and many more. Using this experience, he is now melding his passion for travel with his production experience to produce educational tours with the Museum Travel Alliance and Arrangements Abroad.
Having created and managed budgets over a million dollars, hired and lead crews both foreign and local, in all corners of the world; there has not been a task too grand to achieve.
